The robots

Here are the two robots. The big one and the PMI
Here a summary of the coupe de France (French robotic contest).
As usual we set up camp at the camping.
Since we are getting older every year, we have to install the heater prior to start anything!
There is still a lot to do and only little time. The big robot can't still make any points and the two robots doesn't communicate.
Final score: 36th position with 94 points
HomologationHomologation without any problem on Thursday morning.
First match on Thursday afernoon against APBTEAM and their singular gathering system.Result: defeat
APBTeam 17+10
uART 7+2
The PMI got blocked before hitting the second bottle and the big robot got stuck after the first drop (which was not really great!).
64th uART 9 points after the first serie
Second match Friday morning against ARIBOT ARIBOT 5+2
uART 17+10
32nd uART 36 points after the second serie
The match was good but the code for the strategy is still not optimal.
Third match Friday afternoon against Robot'ICAM Toulouse (our best match)Video of the third match (Thanks to Lolo from Microb)
Robot’ICAM Toulouse 0
uART 22 +10
16th uART 68 points after the third serie
Our best mach even with non optimized and unnecessary (but beautiful) avoidances between the PMI and the big robot.
A pity for the robot from Robot'ICAM who didn't came out of its starting zone.
Fourth match Friday afternoon against ThepiratebotDefeat
Thepiratebot 11+10
uART 10 +2
26th uART 80 points after the fourth serie
The big robot just came out of the starting zone and that was it. We suppose there was a bug with the beacons and he thought the other robot was just in front of him...
The PMI did well on the other hand.
Fifth match Saturday morning against WheelsTeam uART 12 +2
WheelsTeam 16+10
36th uART 94 points after the fifth serie
Again some bugs on both of the robots...
At the end, despite average results and unexploited potential, we are quite happy of the performaces and of the third match.
The avoidance and behaviour was as expected.
Our biggest and still unidentied problem is the crash of the microprocessor handling the movements and the strategy of the robots. Yeah, annoying...
But the next generation is coming.

BIG THANK YOU to our friend J.J. B.
With that failure is not an option!!
All the teams from Alsace: µART, ENSISA and INSA have passed the homologations.
From one of our fans: we are now at least 3 teams to compete!
The complete team has arrived at La Ferté-Bernard after some long traffic jam around Paris for some of us!
The installation is complete and the homologation will be tomorrow.
This year we will have a special thought for our friend Jean-Jacques B.
A preview of the 2012 poster:
Good news: the PMI version 2 is finished! Well almost, it needs only to learn how to drive now!
What's been done:
The beacons have been reviwed to manage the 2 opponent robots, electonics redone 100% to avoid the voltages issues we had, the wheels and tires were changed, changes of the pathfinder. We also bought some digital servo-motors.
We are quite late but we are still confident for homologation...
The PMI has been redesigned from scratch to gain in precision when moving....
Yeah, about one week before the contest, otherwise it wouldn't be fun!
So far we used a board for each PIC, a very flexible architecture but it requires a lot of cables...
Therefore we changed that: a main board will host all the PICs.
We also redesigned the main power board to avoid current drop problems during high current surges we had last year.
We are about one month behind of schedule but we hope to close the gap quickly.
We will come to the Belgian cup on the week-end of the 14th of April.
As usual Uart is late and the cold of this week-end won't help!
For now only the mechanical part is done, the electronic part should be available in the next 2 weeks...
The new home-made alloy wheels are finished and will get the new tires tested in january.
On the left side, the plastic wheels and on the right side, the new alloy ones.
Here the new wheels with tires (again left, the plastic ones, right the new ones):
A big thank you to
Istech (Rider) for the blueprints of the wheels...
It's been an long time since any update has been done on the English page.
So some updates of the last progress prior to the French robotic contest.
