We worked in shifts over night to prepare for the morning match.
Matthieu wasn't coding anymore but, as he said, composing in front of an audience.
The audience was in fact a cloud of mosquitos who came as soon as the night came and as we switched on the lights...
But unfortunately at the end, the inspiration was not a divine one!
During the first match of the day (against Robotium), the robot started very well, gathered some of the pawns, very promising but then stopped abruptly!
We got 10 points since we came out of the starting zone, but that's all (against 50 points for Robotium).
Back to the camping to analyse the log files and try to fix it for the next match this afternoon.
The fix took some time to take effect: the second match of the day against Polygelec was catastrophic: 30 to 30 points.
We tried to fix it on site until the next match.
But the third match was a good one, with 110 points against 20 for the CRIG!
One match left tomorrow morning but it'll be difficult to get qualified. Let's see......
In the evening at the camping, Microb Technology paid us a visit to boost morale.
We played
petanque (a typicall french game).
Finally Microb is as good in constructing robots or drinking beer, as in playing petanque!!
The task force worked over night.
That was mandatory to be ready for the first match planned around 2.00pm.
We had to wait at our stand. This gave us the opportunity to see other robots and see some familiar faces.
After a while an 'angel' (so called) came to get us for our first match.
We are competing against Sophia Team. We didn't make a very good performance. We did win the match (with 60 points to 20) that brought us to the 26th place so that's a good start.
But we got trouble with the scanner and the sensors. The scanner is used to differentiate the Kings and the Queens (marked with a code bar).
So after this match, we went back to the camping to ... sleep!!
The next objective will be the tests on the official tables between 6.30pm and 10.00pm.
We hope to gather enough data to work on during the evening and probably the night... again!
Tomorrow a big day is coming: 4 matches for the qualifications. So we need to be ready...
We arrived at the camping and were greeted by Alexis, the owner. We got our usual camping place together with the INSA Strasbourg and the ENSISA.
Everybody arrived almost at the same time. We mounted one of the two tents. The INSA will be only sleeping at the camping and they will be
working at their stand. So we will be sharing the tent with the ENSISA.
Once the camping place installed, we prepared the robot for the homologations.
Few adjustements of the robot and around 10 p.m. we went for the homologations. Everything went fine and we got validated at once!
Our new outfit make also some impression. It must be the hats!!
Once back at the camping, we didn't rest neither. The night task force has been set up with the following program: management of the pieces and detection of the opponent.
Now it's time to go!
Still lots of things to finish but we won't have time before we leave for La Ferte (in France, near Le Mans where the robotic contest takes place).
It's been over two weeks now since the table has been installed in the living room and that everyone is working on the robot.
While some are working on the robot, others are packing and preparing the van for the departure.
And before we leave a photo of the robot.
His name is
Chess' jetzt bal. It's a word game related to the Alsatian dialect.
